Want to stay cool this summer without having to worry about high energy bills? We’ve got you covered.
Here are three excellent tips from our AC professionals that are sure to help you keep your air conditioning costs under control.
1) Set your thermostat like a pro
The mighty thermostat–so small and yet the savings it can bring you are so enormous. How you set it in the summer (and really, year-round) has a large impact on your electric bills. So much so that people often install programmable thermostats and save up to $180 a year in energy costs.

2) Seal up those leaky air ducts
Imagine you’re drinking a cup of water and there’s a hole near the lip. Water wasted (and you’re probably upset, too).
That’s what it’s like when you have leaks in your air ducts. You turn on your air conditioner, but the air doesn’t go where it needs to, wasting it. This causes your air conditioner to work longer and harder to cool your home, increasing your electric bills as a result.

3) Get an annual tune-up
We know this sounds self-serving, but we’re not the only ones who think that air conditioner maintenance is important to lowering your electric bills.
Energy Star, a voluntary program that helps people save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency notes that, “Just as a tune-up for your car can improve your gas mileage, a yearly tune-up of your heating and cooling system can improve efficiency and comfort.”
